Marko Wheatley
I was born and grew up in Manchester and moved to the South coast of England in the 1980's to study fine art printmaking at Brighton Polytechnic (now University of Brighton) and then Illustration in London at the Royal College of Art.
I have an open and inquisitive approach to various forms of expression with visual formulations hinged on historical investigations, particularly the overlap of art, fashion, and design. My work has developed through multiple disciplines including painting printmaking, textiles and sculpture.
Central to my working methods is the act of play. Play enables an engagement in the moment, relying on spontinaety and intuition. Processes and techniques are essentially used to maximize the potential for improvisation, developing through a playful exploration of shapes, forms, colour and composition.
